Arts & Crafts

Every purchase funds research and development for Kids with Down syndrome!

Artistic activities and crafts have incredible benefits for both cognitive and motor skill development. Movements such as holding a paintbrush or scribbling with a crayon are essential to the growth of fine motor skills in young children. For young children, making art provides opportunities to learn words for colors, shapes and actions. The experience of making decisions and choices while creating art carries over into other parts of life, such as strengthening problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Today, even our toddlers know how to operate a smart phone or tablet, which means that even before they can read, kids are constantly taking in visual information. Art is a wonderful way to encourage the thinking process and encourage kids to express themselves. Studies also show that there is a correlation between art and other achievement. The toys offered in this section aim to promote these developmental skills and expression.
